Apple Watch Battery Health: What Refurbished Buyers Must Check

Battery is the #1 wear item on a used Apple Watch. Here's how to read the numbers and avoid surprises.

Apple Watch Battery Health: What Refurbished Buyers Must Check

The single biggest difference between a great and a mediocre refurbished Apple Watch is the battery. Unlike iPhones, watchOS hides battery health deep in Settings — and many low-cost sellers don't disclose it. Here's what to look for.

Where the number lives

On the watch: Settings → Battery → Battery Health. It shows Maximum Capacity as a percentage of original design capacity.

What's a good number?

  • 100–95% — as-new, rare on used units older than 12 months.
  • 90–85% — excellent for refurbished; typical all-day use unchanged.
  • 84–80% — acceptable; you may notice shorter always-on display runtime.
  • Below 80% — the watch will prompt Service and should be re-celled.

At Furbishmarket every Apple Watch is either tested above 85% or the battery is replaced with a certified cell before listing.

Fast charging and heat

Series 7+ supports fast charging, but repeated fast charges in Gulf summer heat (40°C+) age the battery faster. If you live in Dubai, Riyadh or Kuwait, we recommend slow-charging overnight and avoiding leaving the watch in a parked car.

What kills a battery early

1. Constant GPS workouts without charging in between 2. Always-on display + Cellular + high brightness 3. Storing the watch fully drained for weeks 4. Charging on unbranded pucks with voltage spikes

Our refurbishment process

1. Diagnostic scan and cycle count 2. Battery replacement if below 88% 3. Water-resistance re-seal 4. 24-hour drain test under load

Every unit ships with a 12-month warranty covering battery defects.
